After Saturday was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary, James' mother, and Salome bought spices to go and anoint Jesus' body. Early on Sunday morning, at sunrise, they went to the tomb. On the way, they said to one another, "Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?" (It was a large stone.) Then, they looked up and saw that the stone had already been rolled away.
So, they entered the tomb. They saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe. They were astounded. "Don't be astounded," he said, "I know you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is not here. He has been raised. See, here is where he was placed.
"Now, go and give this message to his disciples, including Peter: 'He is going to Galilee ahead of you; there you will see him, as he told you.'" So, they went out and ran from the tomb, distressed and terrified. They said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

The angel, or messenger, in the tomb on Easter morning, gives the women a message for Jesus' disciples. The story, however, mentions only one of Jesus' followers specifically, the one who had denied him a two nights before. Also, this disciple was the one who had assured Jesus that he would gladly die with him. We can conclude the story is sharing something important in the messenger mentioning specifically only Peter.
1) What do you think Peter was feeling after denying his Teacher and friend, Jesus?
2) What are possible feelings Peter felt upon hearing Jesus wanted to meet him in Galilee?
3) Have you ever felt denied by someone you had deeply trusted? What did that feel like? What do you feel, now, when remembering that denial? Have you forgiven the denial?
4) Have you denied someone who had deeply trusted you? Have you forgiven the denial? Have you asked that the other person forgive your denial?
5) What does this story in Mark 16 say to you about the nature and action of Love?
6) Who has helped you learn more about the power of Love by forgiving how you hurt him or her?
7) Is there a hurt from the past you need to forgive? Did you hurt someone, and you need to forgive that?
The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong.
